Get Involved with WEBS

Each year we offer over 35 education programs for the public and 25 field trips for Tillamook County students. We depend on our volunteers to make these events a pleasant experience for all participants. We are always looking to add to our robust group of volunteers.

There are many ways for you to become involved. For our virtual programs, you can be a Co-Host, backing up the presenter and monitoring the questions during the presentation. If you have video editing skills, you can help us prepare the presentations for our Virtual Programs Library.

For our in-person programs, you can be a Program Leader or Co-Leader, a Day of the Event Assistant, a Spanish Language Interpreter, or a Science Coach. You can help with administration or behind the scenes in a variety of roles. Read more about our volunteer opportunities below, and take a look at our Events Page to learn more about the programs we offer. If you want to become involved with WEBS, you’ll be able to find something that meets your interests and fits your schedule.

If you aren't sure what you want to do but would like to become involved, contact Roger Miller, our Volunteer Coordinator, at: volunteer@netartsbaywebs.org.

We invite you to fill out our Volunteer Application Form. Once you have become a WEBS volunteer, you will be provided with access to our Volunteer Portal. With this portal, you will be able to see what events we need help with, you can sign yourself up for the events you want to participate in, you can see your personal schedule of upcoming events, you can post and review your hours, and much more. We believe that our volunteer portal will make it easier than ever for you to engage with WEBS.

Volunteer Opportunities

WEBS provides training to help familiarize you with and make you comfortable with each of the roles and their responsibilities. Below are bried descriptions of roles for volunteers. For further details, take a look at our Volunteer Manual and Volunteer Job descriptions.

Program Leader - you will organize and coordinate all details for the event. If you are an expert on the subject you may be the presenter, or WEBS will identify the expert and put you in contact with them. You’ll work with the presenter to work out the logistics and any transportation needs, agree on the honoraria, determine the number of participants, arrange for handouts, etc. You will coordinate the date and time with our WEBS Executive Director.

Day of the Event Assistant - the specific duties of this role will vary somewhat depending on the event. Duties may include helping to set up the venue, signing-in participants and having them sign a waiver, keeping the group organized during field trips, photographing the event, manning the WEBS information table, etc.

Science Coach - you support teachers with their science and natural history education field trips. Tillamook students from Kindergarten through 8th grade participate in the field trips. You can be trained as an Activity Leader, facilitating student involvement in activities created by the teachers. Or you can be an assistant, providing help in setting up, cleaning up after the event, and keeping the activities running efficiently. Science Coaches become involved in whatever capacity they are comfortable, from helping out just once a year to becoming involved with several events during the course of the school year.

Newsletter Editor - Twice a year, WEBS creates a newsletter of interesting articles about the Bay and WEBS current events.  We are looking for someone with the appropriate skills to take over editing and production of the newsletter. Articles are written by others, so this task involves organizing articles and pictures for our graphic designer, and getting the newsletter printed and mailed to approximately 2,000 households.

Event photography - we try to capture a few good photos of each of our events. This responsibility often falls to the event organizer who is juggling other tasks during the event. We could use attending volunteers to capture event photos.

Spanish language interpreters - help at our community and school events to provide information in Spanish. We are also looking for volunteers that would be able to help us translate text (for advertisements, flyers, etc.) in Spanish.

Be a stewardship volunteer or rapid responder - we organize stewardship events such as invasive plant mapping and removal, beach cleanups, etc. Having a team of volunteers to call upon for these types of events is great!

Administration / Behind the Scenes - if you don’t think you’d like to help with the events, there are many ways that you can support WEBS. Here is a list of some of the things we can always use help with:

●     Social Media

●     Event Photography

●     Virtual Event Co-host

●     Video Editing

●     Proofreading

●     Newsletter

●     Marketing Communications and Advertising

●     Graphic Design

More! There is always more. Talk to us about your interests. Contact: volunteer@netartsbaywebs.org.
